Ecotourism is about uniting conservation, communities, and sustainable travel, according to the International Ecotourism Society. Given that the vast majority of local people do not want an airwalk in their community, and with plenty of travel opportunities already in place here, it would be amazing if the airwalk were ever approved. And such approval would certainly reflect poorly on any public officials charged with representing their neighbors. Projects like this should arise from local communities pursuing options or addressing problems they have identified, not from someone scouting a U.S. map for likely spots to carry out their vision. This shouldn't be about "information campaigns" to convince locals to believe in that imposed vision. The people who live, work and vacation here, the people who look out on that land and see it overlaid with memories of family, friends, and life experiences, have a voice in what should happen here. Reading through the comments here, that voice has been loud and clear: no airwalk.
