I have known Jan for maybe 10 years- not real well but enough to have her one of my Empire friends who left lasting memories with me. Jan left us way too early due to a devastating illness. She was an optimist and was so enthusiastic about causes she believed in: the community center, our joint membership of Sweeter Song Farm’s community supported agriculture and nutritional products she sold. We also had a joined love for dark chocolate and Jan would often come into the Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate and put enough money on the counter for a single truffle. She would bring the packaged treat home to savor it properly. Jan was also one of my favorite tasters when new products were in development. I will miss her beautiful smile and warmth and Empire has lost a dear sole.
Thank you Mary for your lovely words, Thank you Dianne Navarro and others who supported Jan in the last months where she fought valiantly.
