Comment on Leelanau County Commission race: Melinda Lautner vs. John O’Neill by Shirley

We need a commissioner who can be receptive to the needs of this community and not always vote “no”. Just a reminder of Ms. Lautner’s thinking ( from the Ticker January 3, 2014):
Commissioners Karen Zemaitis, Deb Rushton and Melinda Lautner generated fierce community debate last year after making comments at an April 8 meeting that Leelanau “didn’t want growth” and that residents could “develop their own economic community.” Zemaitis and Rushton also cited a fear of United Nations-based conspiracy theory Agenda 21 as a reason for killing a proposed jobs strategy contract with the TBEDC and supporting the EDC dissolution. I think it is interesting that Lautner is now stating that with the help of the new EDC plan we can get small business growing.
