We are not opposed to a trail – we are opposed to a wide asphalt road that is called a trail and built with road building equipment through the woods. Asphalt is more fitting for an urban bike trail environment. The NPS must consider another surface for a hard pack trail. In order to make this project a great project- the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore should require a full Environmental Impact Study. To say that this asphalt road project has NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT on the environment -is not true and diminishes the integrity of the National Park Service.
