“Some holdouts pine for the Glen Arbor of yesteryear that didn’t willingly attract tourists. Some maintain that bicyclists should be kept away from automobile traffic. And some continue to oppose the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail as an affront to their rural footpaths. Nevertheless, the popular Heritage Trail’s expansion to Port Oneida, and Glen Arbor’s addition of bike lanes and complete streets, downtown, suggest a greater acceptance — indeed, an embrace — of bicyclists in the region. Just because you report the story from only one perspective does not mean that there is a true embrace from the community. Most serious bikers won’t even use this trail – please report both side of the story!
