I am all for the trail being paved because that allows for all users to enjoy it. When a trail is limestone, gravel or dirt, wheelchair users, handcyclists, roller bladers, roller skiers, skateboarders and even good road bike riders, (probably the largest segment of users), are basically eliminated from using the a trail. Yes… an asphalt trail does change the aesthetics of the area but this township and county has plenty of natural trails for all to enjoy too. It’s not like one group has been eliminated from trail usage. The new trail system is way too steep and is dangerous in places but it can be modified and improved. Thousands and thousands of people are flocking to the area to use the new trail and last Saturday was the largest crowd I have ever seen at the dune climb too and I have been visiting the area since the late 60’s. Maybe the anti-trail people should get out there and get a little exercise instead of complaining and criticizing some of the local businesses.
