Well said Peter and Cassidy! I moved here at age 26 and made my way–came with a college degree and waited tables at Sugar Loaf where I worked with Cassidy’s Dad mid-90s. I did exactly what Peter has identified and examined the opportunities and ended up going back to school for nursing in my early 30s. I am a successful RN, NP, and Nurse Manager. Those who are bright and successful will make it work here; those who cannot make it work here are not meant to live here. This area should never be compromised to ensure the doors are open for those who expect the same lifestyle and opportunities in a major city. Leelanau is worth the struggle for those who have the fortitude to succeed.
