Comment on Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail construction begins by Nancy Mueller

It is interesting to see these huge projects being done in the off season when people are not up in the area to see the tearing down of huge trees and see roads called “trails” bulldozed into the National Park. These new “trails” are wider than the seasonal roads in the area for cars to travel on. It does not make sense that bike “trails” need to be wider than rural seasonal roads for vehicles.
It does not make sense that bike trails need to be paved with asphalt when rural seasonal roads are gravel.

And I do want to emphasize that this is happening in a National Park-not a state or suburban park where we might expect to see paved bike trails.

The Park completely sold out to the interests of TART. It is unbelievable that this kind of forest devastation would ever happen but it is very real.

Everyone should go and read the book Animal Farm or reread it if they have already read it. People with their own agenda get in power and in the blink of an eye things change in a very bad way. Yes- things are very different here in Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.

Time for new superintendents??
