I’d suggest no further trail expansion – PERIOD. This entire project is just way too big! 17.5 + miles and counting….If you are a recreational bike rider with or without small children or wheelchair bound I understand that a trail from Glen Arbor to the Dune Climb is nice to have and safe. However, not a lot of merely recreational folks are going to use this really long trail in my opinion. I still see “serious” bike riders using the roads. I don’t blame Little Traverse Lake Association for proposing an alternative. However, I’d suggest the best alternative would be to stop further expansion of this trail now and cut our losses. Let’ preserve Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, not pave over it. I’m not exactly sure how this entire trail ever got started but I feel it has gotten out of control. For those who wanted a trail, they have one that’s plenty long enough. For those who never wanted one in the first place – can we please just STOP?
