Comment on Animal House on the River by SandraLH

Reading about the partying and alcohol on the Platte River is quite distressing. Alcohol should be prohibited completely which I thought was the rule in National Parks. I currently live in Chicago, but was born in Michigan and spent every summer on the Platte with my family. My grandfather was the original surveyor of Benzie county.
I have made many visits to Benzie as an adult and planning my retirement there with kayaking in mind and enjoying the peace and beauty of nature. I now feel depressed and disillusioned after reading this article thinking about the River area being over run with polluters and those who are not respectful of nature.
