This made me weep, Jacob. I could hear your voice reading it, just like I could hear Norm’s voice reading his story for The Betsie Current/Glen Arbor Sun about train travel a couple of years ago. It’s not often that this happens for me; typically it’s my own voice that I hear in my head when I read something, so it’s a delight when the author’s voice actually pops through. This is when your writing is at its best, when it’s full of storytelling and craft and history and emotion. Great job, friend.
