Comment on Walking the Lake Michigan beach — a public right, or trespassing? by Cindy

I own waterfront on Lake Michigan. I have had walkers, with dogs, who decided to let their dog poop on the beach, and not pick it up. I have had kids stay on my beach playing withing 5ft of my hammock while I was reading and napping (I HAD TO GET UP AND MOVE). We had to tell them to move on, where they went home and complained, so their parent and grandparent came back to read us the law….like we don’t know it…..so we read it back to them what their idiot kids can and can NOT do on our property. They hated people hanging out on their beach so they sent to kids to MY BEACH!! I had a person set up their tri pod and take numerous photos for an hour from our beach. I have had ‘the public’ start picking up our rock wall and take off with the stones. My house IS IN THE 50ft SET BACK since it was built prior to that rule. When people walk our beach it is a huge invasion for us due to how close we are to the water. Last year was the last straw. I planted Black Berry bushes on both ends of our property. I think that will stop our invasion…plus I have a new out of control Lab who likes to jump on strangers with muddy paws and a wagging tail. He will knock over the bravest person. So be it.
