We’re in a quandary in Benzie County. Either vote in the Democratic primary to support Derrick, or vote in the Republican one to have a voice in the local races, where true evil raises its head in the prosecutor’s race in particular. Franz is a terrible representative, and getting him out of there is a priority. Both Bailey and O’Shea are good candidates. I do think Bailey has the better chance of winning in November, so I would like to vote for him. But can we Benzie County voters trust our friends in Leelanau to vote FOR us so we can have a voice in our important local races? It’s a bad system when you’re forced to choose between party ballots. Unfortunately, in Benzie County the Republican primary IS the election.
