Comment on Hungarian born Lou Batori dies at age 107 by phil

I met Lou through one of his other loves, sports cars. Lou (and Judith) had been avid rallyists in the early days of rally in the US – he was an active rallymaster (e.g. MG1000) with the Long Island MG Club, and had competed in the Shell TransCanada at least a couple of times – – – once with his daughter? — with BMC/Leyland sponsorship I believe. We met became acquainted in 1987 at John Twist’s MG University sessions, in the cold of the winter. Lou became a friend and mentor to me all through the rest of the 80s and 90s – – – I had the great privilege to build a new engine and gearbox for his MGB, and to have skiied with Lou. His classic advice – the right woman, only the best scotch, and pick the right parents ….. Fine skiing, Lou.
