Thanks for the great article and reporting. Having worked in the leland school community for many years, it is very understandable that all members of the school community feel violated when one of their own is spied on and arrested in such a manner that is particularly unsafe in this time of school shooters etc. No ice or border control agents should be hanging around schools! The Hispanic community in Leelanau County has had a great relationship thus far with locals and tourists for many years. What would happen to Leelanau County restaurants, farms, and wineries without the excellent workers who come join us every season to help us cook, serve and harvest the bounty of our”land of delight”?? Think about it. We cannot do it by ourselves. Some businesses are even bringing in temporary help from Europe to help with our season. This is not a political problem. This is a humanitarian, economic problem that needs some better answers than what is currently being offered by law enforcement.
