This is fantastic news and hopefully, the tipping point for the tremendous potential this county has for MTB trails. The fact is bikes are expensive, people who ride bikes are wealthy and are willing to protect and advocate for the land they can ride. The pushback from the community is confusing and unfortunately, due to misinformation. There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Why the fuss when a conservancy wants to build a few miles of MTB trails in a county that has none? Mountain bike trails, when built responsibly, do not cause erosion and there are many economic benefits. What’s wrong with encouraging more people to get outside? People won’t protect land they don’t love or won’t interact with. Look at the case studies done around the nation and let go of preconceived notions. If the conservancy doesn’t start to use their lands to attract a younger audience (donors) they will eventually lose their funding. Happy trails.
