I have been watching the changes on Higgins Lake for half a century and it’s disturbing.
I have been the caretaker of a mile of shoreline on the North side and the lake of beach on the windward shoreline, trapping organic material in the water seems to be big factor in the consumption of Oxygen from the water. With a lower water level the leaves, sticks and insects would wash up and decompose in the atmosphere.
Ice jacking would create ramparts and trap run off nutrients.
A different stewardship model based on the health of the lake.
