What you all have to consider, high water is beyond the ordinary high water mark, and inland lakes, private property owners own to the middle of the lake. Why do you think Ripairan was created, because they are smaller bodies of water and it is a private property protection. We are getting hit with pontoon tie offs, people anchoring right in front of our house. We have had people being very loud, getting drunk, puking off the side of their boat, bringing their crying babies with no where to go with them, disturbing our peace. Now if anyone sets an anchor we chase them off. They are literally in our front yard. I offer them a pot of coffee, would you like dinner???? Ever since the Torch Lake sand bar allowing to happen it is spreading like a disease. I feel so sorry for those property owners. What has happened is many of them gave up and turned them into rentals. It ruined the south end and I can tell you potential buyers, their first question is how far away is it from the sand bar….and if it is not far, there is no sale. It has ruined property values on the South End of Torch Lake. As a property owner, while the state tries to figure it out, we make it not worth their while to stay. Blow boat horns. We offer zero hospitality, no smiles, no waves to anyone who comes within a 100 feet of our property either causally passing by or anchoring. It is rude. Nosey, and beyond rude. There are many that leave after our kind request not to anchor in front of our home, a test is if you can hear us we can hear you. The rude ones….get the boat horn and we don’t stop telling them how rude they are until they finally leave. They have no right to be in once was our front yard. Stay away from the front of peoples private homes for your boat party. It is beyond rude. If you want that kind of setting, buy a lake home. An occasional fisherman or quiet group, not bothering anyone, we don’t chase off. But those that are loud and do tie offs, we exercise our private enjoyment rights.
