Comment on Riding the new Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail by Tom D'Ambrosio

Debbie… the trail was in fact funded with Federal Funds (in part) meaning it must comply with all ADA and other agency regulations like ASHTO rules and others. Therefore ALL of the trail needs to be accessible to all people and all forms of non-motorized legal usage… and that does not exclude able bodied people who may want to use roller blades, roller skies and like mobility equipment either. Please tell us why anyone who wants to use the entire trail in a safe manner should be limited to only certain sections??? It is NOT the job of any committee to determine who can use what and/or intermix anything. There are distinct guidelines in place regarding the building of these types of trails. There is no reason in the world why some segments of the population should be limited from using the entire trail in a safe and reasonable manner.
