I have ridden the new section of the trail multiple times now and am extremely grateful to have it as a resource. I anticipate riding it every day from Empire to Glen Haven and back for exercise and to fill myself up with the beauty of the area. There is one longer steep hill, but I don’t know how they would have been able to get the trail down to Empire without having hills on the trail. They would have needed to cut huge and destructive gaps in the natural landscape, profoundly altering the nature of the terrain. The areas right next to the trail already are recovering from the construction process. Grasses and plants are filling in quickly. And, they did a very fine job of taking out the bare minimum of trees in order to build the trail. This trail already is being and will continue to be used by bikers and walkers, both young and old (I am much closer to the second than the first of those). We are lucky to have it.
