Nice article with good intentions. However, one of the maxims in journalism is “know your audience.” According to the planning consultants hired by the Glen Arbor Township Board, the average (median?) age of township residents is 61. For most, our running days are behind us as we await knee replacements and/or shift to other forms of exercise. That doesn’t mean you won’t be seeing us on Alligator Hill, only that there will be fewer of us. So, brush up on your CPR and be sure to say “Hi” as you zoom by us as we huff, pant and sweat our way along the trail. Chances are, many of us were once runners, too (which is why we need new knees.) As a friend once said, “God gave each of us only so many heartbeats, so I don’t intend to use them up any faster than I have to!”
