Thank you to the owner for having vision, and yet valuing a structure so dear to my heart. Each year when I visit, I hold my breath for changes I hope I don’t see to the landmarks of my childhood – my old home, the school, Deering’s Market… It always makes me smile to see them still there. I was sure my childhood home was going down to make way for a well-off developer to capitalize on the location, but met the new owner last fall and he is saving the sweet little block house – for which I am so very grateful. To read about plans for my old school warms my heart as well. And may Deering’s forever be the mainstay of the town that will always be home to my heart.
