Where’s Johnny Appleseed? As an elementary school student in a public school located in Overland Park, KS, in 1962, I not only learned about Johnny, but also about the varieties of apples and their uses as well taking a field trip to Stephenson’s Apple Orchard where we saw apples picked and processed – all without need of a special government program with attendant funding and added government bureaucracy to manage what is obviously a political sop to local growers.
NOTE: I have nothing against local growers or apples, just needless government.
