This is right wing hogwash that completely ignores both the constitution AND numerous Supreme Court rulings.
First, the States are very specifically granted the right to both emergency and police powers. Any right not SPECIFICALLY reserved to the federal government is retained by the States. It’s in there. It’s called the TENTH AMENDMENT. Go read it. And in Michigan, the Governor has very specifically been granted the right to exercise executive orders at times like this. IT IS THE LAW. Conservatives have been blathering about “states rights” for decades. Now that it doesn’t suit their needs, they suddenly don’t think it applies.
Oh the hypocrisy.
And the Supreme Court has ruled not only that states rights prevail, but also in time of emergency that the state absolutely DOES have the power to do exactly what our Governor has done.
