Comment on High in the treetops above Glen Lake? by Sarah Wigton Dominguez

I had a dream approximately one month prior to hearing about this proposed Air Walk. In my dream, I was trying to get home to Bow Rd. but kept on running into a bunch of people, and I couldn’t figure out why they were all there. The most congested spot was close to the corner of Fritz and Bow, where a random lot of small restaurants and people selling things were lining the street. People were milling about, but I didn’t know any of them. I became further frustrated when I then noticed a small campground of people with loud voices who pitched their tents in the woods on the same corner. Why were they there? Who could have possibly let them destroy our quiet little residential area in the woods? Who gave them permission? This has never been the character of our blessed and beautiful little heaven on earth. When my parents shared with me about the proposed Air Walk and I read about it in the newspaper, I was horrified and had the most awful sinking feeling… Since, I have shed many tears and have had countless restless, anxious moments. My dream has been coming to life in the fact that this is exactly what will happen if this is allowed to pass. Those of us with homes in the surrounding area will never again feel the same peace of the woods that we built our homes and lives around. People will move out and leave their property open to others who will sell it off. We will have no control over the encroaching businesses that will pop up… whether they be restaurants, shops, or campgrounds. I can’t even imagine what it will do to the local wildlife. It will never be the same again. Is this what we want? I don’t believe so. I have not heard one single voice for the Air Walk from those who live in the direct vicinity of this area. Please, please, please, those of you who have been given voting rights and those who have the power to sell this land… Let’s stand together and be good stewards in PROTECTING our beautiful land.
